Topic: Dr. Stephen Levensohn

Stephen B. Levensohn, Professor of Philosophy, Religion, and Humanities, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, of congestive heart failure.

Dr. Levensohn was on the UCF faculty for thirty-five years until his retirement last June. He was a dedicated teacher who continued to teach this past year. Originally from Boston, he received his BA degree from Boston University and both his M.A. and Ph.D. from Florida State University. Dr. Levensohn held a post-doctorate position at the Jewish Theological Seminary. He also served in the United States Air Force. Together with his wife, Kate, he hosted a local radio program, "Aunt Harriet's All Night Diner and Short Order" and delighted his listeners and callers as the gravelly voiced "Harriet."

Dr. Levensohn's family has established the Stephen B. Levensohn Scholarship/Memorial Fund at UCF. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Stephen B. Levensohn Scholarship/Memorial Fund, UCF Foundation, 12424 Research Parkway, Suite 140, Orlando, FL 32826.

Nothing I can say can quite convey the strange sadness that set in upon hearing this... Harriet was one of my teachers my second semester at UCF, and probably in an abstract sense the most influencial I've ever had. Ask me some time, and I'll tell you about his wife Kate and the collection of angelic energies named Ariel that she would channel from wherever collections of angelic energies normally hang out. One of his friends, whose name has escaped me, hit his head falling out of a trailer truck one day and could henceforth read the futures of others by sight, mine included, to an interesting end... Harriet himself was simply a wierdo with an intriguing past and an honest view of the world.

I saw him during finals last semester. When I thought I recognized him, I said "Dr. Levensohn?" I'm not sure anymore whether he would have been disappointed that I didn't call him Harriet. Probably, but while I'm certain of is that he would never have said anything about it, it would have been nice not to make him feel misunderstood yet again. There's nothing worse than that.

Goodbye, Harriet.

Okay, so I'm a sentimental hypocrite who sees what I want to see. This amused me. :)

I think most of these are true ;)

I feel cool. I just got my first project with information on a need-to-know basis. I can't even discuss it with half of the people here.

I may already have said too much... ;)

Anyway, aside from feeling particularly cool about that, I'm doing well. My body has been dead tired like you wouldn't believe ever since about two nights ago, but I can't quite figure out why. Eh.

I went out and played a few games of pool a couple of nights ago. Man do I suck these days.

Dodgeball was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Poor Ben Stiller did such a good job, too.

I finally put some pictures up in my room. It's getting better.

Phillip and I spoke Spanish for a bit last night. Fue divertido, pero no fue tan bonita como con mi ratita hermosa. It mainly just pissed Kevin off.

We watched Once Upon a Time in Mexico last night. It was just as bad as I remember it. Johnny Depp was just as cool, though, so that makes it okay.

I love my baby.

I finally have my thesis workshop today, so I can stop worrying about missing it.

Ah well, back to my little menu thingy, then my little RAVEN thingy, then my other thingy that I can't apply a diminutive label towards.

I love you so much, Cherie :)

Hasta luego, mis amigos.
