After showering I'm back to normal. Thanks again go out to TJ who kept me from being in Deltona for the entirety of another day. Yard work is like Zeno's paradox but without the logical fallacy: the first half takes an hour, then half of what's left takes another hour, then half of what's left takes another hour, etc... I pull all of the huge weeds, but once they're out of the way I notice the little ones that outnumber their larger siblings tenfold. Fortunately, the war against weeds, like any other, utilizes an arsenal suited for the task.
Y'know that look that the soldier-hero persona has on his face in the movies as he mows down the enemy camp? See Hot Shots: Part Deux, if you don't know the look, or just use your imagination. Anyway, my grandfather has a weed-whacker. It's the kind with two handles and a trigger, and it creates a mighty hurricane of devastation to rend leaf, blast root, and shatter the foundation of everything green with the ill fortune to lay in its path. It took me an hour to do manually what this thing took care of in mere minutes, and all the while I wore the huge gun look on my face like a mask. It was very nearly as much fun as using the chainsaw to eviscerate the stump that was formerly a bush looming busily outside, over, and around our bay window.
Another post cut short... TJ is here to take me away. Byebye.
I feel obligated to update. Erm... no, that's not true. I'm bursting to post but desperately lacking for words. I'm nearing a peak of my intellect cycle but my normally philosophical mind has been preoccupied of late with a certain someone.
I guess I should answer some questions. Normally I wouldn't presume to post this stuff but since I've been asked the same things by most people I guess I should be compelled to consolidate. Her name is Cherie. Cherie Lynn Ramirez. It's hispanic, or Mexican to be more precise, although I can only see vague traces of it in her appearance. In fact, it's most noticable when she speaks to her family on the phone in Spanish and her voice jumps up an octave. It's cute, trust me. She has an older sister, Michelle (or Mishi as she prefers to be called). We've never met, but I hear good things. She has very strong ties with her family which is why I lost focus like that. What else is there...? She's absolutely brilliant; in many areas much smarter than myself though we're both afraid that we are overestimating one another for now. We also disagree in that I find her not just cute or mildly pretty but absolutely gorgeous. Mirrors can't reflect the spirit; I think that's the source of our disagreement. As soon as I get a good picture you can judge for yourselves. Those are the only two things we've argued about to my recollection; that and whether I let her win at pool a couple of times. She's still learning me =). She's a molecular biology major, though I think she could do anything she put her mind to in her spare time. Hell, she's doing finite element analysis to solve musical accoustics physics as her summer job. She has a diverse music taste that appears to still be evolving. She's very open to new ideas but is cautious with herself, an aspect that first bent and finally snapped off the needle on my respect-o-meter. She liked Fight Club, Snatch, and Ender's Game. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, just before we confessed our feelings for one another she was actually probing me for projections in the exact same way that I usually do. Either way, she just might be perfect.
No, we're not together. No, TJ, I don't know what her tonsils taste like, and if you ask me again I might have to kick you in the face. No, you don't have to tell me that I should go for her; I figured that much out on my own. She's not comfortable with an official relationship yet (and neither are her parents, but that's a different story that has yet to be written), but we're going on a date tomorrow night and that's the best I can say for now. Oh, and I'm slightly beyond terrified that I'm going to screw this up (you should see me around her, I'm almost pathetically quiet, hehe). Then again, when has that ever stopped me?
*sigh* That felt good. Thanks.
Speaking of Ender's Game, I'm getting up tomorrow morning to add some more to that nearly-comatose project. Some day I'll finish something that I start, like the band that's choking to death on its own laziness, or the novel that I'm chipping away at week by week. I'll feel very fulfilled on that day.
I've probably been to the beach and played racquetball four times each since my last update. They're still my favorite sports.
Denny's party was on Friday night. I didn't sleep much in the days prior to it; I got about seven hours in the three previous nights, and only one hour in that most recent night (I crashed at Rollins and spent most of the time thinking). I also have eaten dinner twice in the last two weeks. This combination left me low on both energy and tolerance, and so after a couple of Smirnoff's and a cup of rum I decided sleep was more important than fun and crashed upstairs. I'm sure the rest of the party was fun from the next-day reactions, but I'm not the one to ask about it. The morning after the party, however, Denny and Brad drove with me to Deltona and we finished doing the paint jobs on my house. Many thanks again go out to them for helping on such short notice. Thanks also to TJ who began the work with me, but is now in South Carolina enjoying Myrtle Beach with Jackie. I think they're both probably having a wonderful time, as it should be.
I still haven't really stopped smiling. Take care of one another. =)
